Hey - I think I get it. - LVM (Linux) or any other type of external snapshot (SAN snapshot, for example) is what you're looking for then, right?
Well, LVM is external to Xen but not external to the Dom0. So it is only so external. It allows the Dom0 to quiesce the filesystem for snapshotting. SAN alone won't likely do that.
